The Sylhet Sixers have been going through a rough phase in the ongoing season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as they are lying at the bottom of the points table in the tournament with only one victory from four matches. Moreover, the team, under the captaincy of David Warner, also has the worst Net Run Rate. The skipper has also been struggling with the bat as the southpaw has only been able to score 80 runs from four matches at an average of 20.

Warner’s team would want to forget Tuesday’s match against Comilla Victorians as they lost by eight wickets. Moreover, they failed in front of their home crowd at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. After losing the toss, Sylhet was bowled out for a meager total of 68. Only one of their batsmen in Alok Kapali, who scored 33 from 31 balls, got into double figures, signifying their abysmal run in the event.

Tuesday’s match also was a witness to a minor controversy, involving Warner and Tamim Iqbal, the Victorians’ opening batsmen. The incident took place in the fourth ball of the third over from left-arm fast pacer Sohail Tanvir. The Pakistani pacer dished out a good-length delivery and Tamim tried to whip it on the leg side. But the leather struck his pads and immediately, the umpire gave him out.

Tamim couldn’t open his account after facing six balls. Nevertheless, he apparently was seen expressing his anger at the Sylhet players while making his way back to the pavilion. The development didn’t please Warner by any stretch of the imagination. The Aussie batsman, who also bagged a duck in the match, seemed pretty agitated by the gesture from Tamim.

Subsequently, the opener complained about the same to the umpire in a very animated manner. Warner isn’t someone, who prefers to curb his natural instincts. He is currently serving a one-year suspension meted out to him by Cricket Australia (CA) back in March last year in the ball-tampering scandal at the Newlands in Cape Town. As far as the match is concerned, Sylhet lost with 53 balls remaining.
