Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital after a medical emergency during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2025 match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club. The alarming incident unfolded while Tamim, who also leads Mohammedan Sporting Club, was fielding during the first innings.

As a veteran cricketer and leader, his sudden health scare has left both his team and fans in shock. According to reports, Tamim experienced chest pain in the middle of the match, prompting immediate medical attention. Initially, a helicopter was arranged to transport him swiftly from the venue at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No. 3 Ground in Savar to a more advanced medical facility in Dhaka.
However, the plan was abandoned due to Tamim’s worsening condition. Instead, he was taken to Fazilatunnesa Hospital, a nearby facility, as confirmed by match referee Debabrata Paul. The severity of his condition quickly became apparent, and Tamim was placed on life support.

Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), later confirmed that Tamim had suffered a heart attack. The medical team initially conducted preliminary checks that suggested mild heart issues.

However, as attempts were made to transport him to Dhaka, Tamim’s condition deteriorated significantly. “He experienced severe chest pain on the way to the helipad, forcing us to rush him back. Medical tests confirmed a massive heart attack,” Dr. Chowdhury revealed to Sportstar. An angioplasty is reportedly being performed to stabilize his condition.
