Injury-hit Bangladesh suffers a huge blow at the very beginning of the 2018 Asia Cup as their in-form opener Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out from the tournament with a fractured wrist. However, the left-handed batsman has earned the huge respect from the cricket world after showing the passion for his nation to return to bat at the last moment of his team’s innings with the help of only fit hand.
Some regular and important Bangladesh cricketers are already suffering from the injuries. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was likely to miss the Asia Cup due to undergo a surgery on his left little finger, but later he postponed that.
Top-order batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto is recovering from the right index finger injury while the wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has recently suffered a minor injury during fielding practice.
Now, the Bangladesh team has suffered a big blow as their experienced and in-form opener Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out from this entire tournament. It happened early in the opening game of this tournament.
After a poor start as the Sri Lankan comeback pacer, Lasith Malinga got two back-to-back wickets in the opening over of the tournament. On the very last ball of the second over, Tamim received a hit on his left wrist during his failed attempt to play a pull shot against Suranga Lakmal.
Quickly the team physio came on the field and soon Tamim decided to retire hurt on 2 runs off 3 balls as Bangladesh was struggling on 3/2 in 2 overs. Tamim straight went to the hospital where he had an X-Ray that revealed he has a fracture.
Though the final news of Tamim’s injury has yet to come from the team as the team manager Khaled Mahmud said that they are waiting for more details, it seems that he has not enough time to recover from this injury during this tournament. However, later he has won the millions of hearts after showing the passion for his nation.
After Bangladesh lost their ninth wicket on 229 runs in 46.5 overs, Tamim came to support the set batsman Mushfiqur Rahim despite he can’t use the injured hand. Tamim faced the only ball in that period who batted with just only fit hand but hugely supported the centurion Rahim who added 32 more runs before losing his wicket. Tamim remained unbeaten on 2 runs off 4 balls but Bangladesh reached the 250+ total as they were bundled out for 261 runs in 49.3 overs.

There was a lone fighter who was fighting the battle alone it's MushfiQur for you
But then there was a warrior who not only played with single hand but showed the world it's fight within you that keeps you going #sportzcraazy #asiacup2018 #BanvsSL #tamimiqbal #playfortheteam pic.twitter.com/PSks8uiwv0— SportzCraazy (@sportzcraazy) September 15, 2018
