Tamim Iqbal to Miss T20I Series, Imrul Kayes Called Up as Replacement Against India

Bangladesh have announced the squad for the upcoming series against India where Tamim Iqbal are not going be play against India in November as he and his wife are expecting their second child later this month. According to ESPNCricinfo, Bangladesh Cricket Board have called up Imrul Kayes as his replacement for the T20I series which is about to start. Although the decision on the Test team is yet to be taken.

With Tamim’s withdrawal, he becomes the second player who will not be a part of the India tour including Mohammad Saifuddin who has been ruled out due to an injury. Although his replacement yet not decided. However, Tamim Iqbal had earlier informed the board that he would not take part in the Kolkata Test which is scheduled to begin from November 22.

“Tamim had informed us earlier that he would miss the second Test in Kolkata but now he will be with his wife for the coming weeks,” said chief selector Minhajul Abedin.

However, he took a break from the game after the Sri Lanka tour and didn’t play the Test against Afghanistan and the T20I tri-series including Zimbabwe. However, he played earlier this month in a first-class match for Chittagong Division in the National Cricket League.
