The Ranchi Test was a rollercoaster ride, with both teams showcasing competitive cricket. England opted to bat first and posted 353 runs, courtesy of Joe Root’s century. In response, India fought back strongly with contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal (73) and Dhruv Jurel (90), limiting the deficit to just 46 runs.

The turning point came in the second innings when R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav spun a web around the England batsmen. Ashwin claimed 5 wickets while Kuldeep took 4, restricting England to a mere 145 runs. This set India a target of 192 runs to win the Test.

India’s chase began confidently, with Rohit Sharma (52) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (37) providing a solid start. However, a flurry of wickets by Shoaib Bashir threatened India’s victory march. Yet, Shubman Gill (52*) and Dhruv Jurel (39*) steadied the ship with a crucial partnership of 72 runs, guiding India to victory with five wickets in hand.

Jurel fittingly hit the winning runs, sparking a flood of congratulatory messages on social media. Kohli, though absent from the action, shared his joy online, celebrating India’s series-clinching triumph. Notably, this defeat marked England’s first under the captaincy of Ben Stokes.
