India cruised to a comfortable seven-wicket win on Day 5, securing the two-match Test series against Bangladesh and solidifying their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. The match at Green Park, Kanpur, saw India claim full points with ease as they wrapped up the series in dominating fashion.
When play resumed on Tuesday, October 1, Bangladesh was in a precarious position at 26/2, still trailing India’s first innings lead by another 26 runs. The overnight batters, Shadman Islam and first-innings centurion Mominul Haque, took to the field, hoping to mount some resistance.
However, Ravichandran Ashwin quickly struck, dismissing Mominul in the third over of the day. Mominul’s attempted sweep shot ended up in the hands of KL Rahul at leg slip, giving India an early breakthrough. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto joined Shadman, and together they fought back with an aggressive 55-run partnership off just 84 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja’s clever bowling got the better of Shanto, who was bowled attempting a reverse sweep. In the very next over, Akash Deep removed Shadman, who had just reached his half-century. This double blow left Bangladesh reeling as their middle order collapsed.
Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan quickly followed, and Bangladesh found themselves tumbling from 91/3 to 94/7. Mushfiqur Rahim, one of the team’s more experienced players, tried to offer some resistance, scoring a gritty 37 off 63 balls. However, his efforts were in vain as Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up the tail, taking the final three wickets, including that of Rahim, to bowl out Bangladesh for just 146.

With a modest target of 95 runs, India needed just two sessions to secure the win. Despite losing Rohit Sharma early to Mehidy Hasan and Shubman Gill soon after, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli steadied the chase. Jaiswal, who had impressed throughout the match, smashed a quick-fire 51 off 45 balls, including a 58-run partnership with Kohli.
Rishabh Pant and Kohli then finished the job, with Pant striking a boundary off Taijul Islam to seal the victory in the 18th over. India’s clinical performance on Day 5 left fans in awe, as they executed a remarkable turnaround despite weather disruptions earlier in the match.

Jadeja has gobbled up 2 left handers in 2.2 overs! So much for match ups!
BTW I know for a fact, Sachin found off spinners the least easy to play amongst all spinners.
