The Indian men’s cricket team has faced an unexpected kit issue ahead of its departure for the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya, with several players reportedly waiting for jerseys in the correct sizes. According to a PTI report, the problem emerged just days before the team was scheduled to leave for Japan.
The Shreyas Iyer-led side is set to depart from New Delhi in the early hours of Sunday, September 20. However, members of the squad have been awaiting the delivery of correctly sized kits following discussions between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and JSW Inspire, the kit supplier associated with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
India will wear its regular team kit for the one-off T20I against Japan on Tuesday before switching to the official Asian Games jersey when the cricket competition begins on September 28.

“There was a sizing issue in the kits of cricketers; the majority of them have been rectified. There are a few left and they will be delivered to the team shortly. With players needing two different jerseys there (one for bilateral and another for Asian Games), this can happen,” an Indian Olympic Association source told PTI.

The kit issue is not the only logistical concern surrounding India’s Asian Games campaign. The BCCI has reportedly made separate hotel arrangements for the men’s team after concerns emerged over accommodation provided to other Indian athletes in Nagoya. The board has also expressed concerns about some cricket facilities, including the playing field.
The Indian women’s cricket team, meanwhile, has continued to stay in accommodation arranged by the IOA.

“The women’s team accommodation was never an issue. The rooms provided by the organisers for the men’s team didn’t even have space to keep the kit bags. There aren’t many big hotels there, but BCCI has managed to make its own arrangements before their departure to Japan,” a source told PTI.
The developments come as India prepare for their Asian Games campaign, with the men’s team scheduled to face Japan before the main tournament gets underway. The BCCI’s separate arrangements are aimed at ensuring the players have suitable accommodation and facilities during their stay in Nagoya.
