The forthcoming preparatory camp isn’t just focused on the Asia Cup squad; it will also include 14 net bowlers to ensure high-intensity practice sessions without overburdening the primary bowling resources. “In addition to the Asia Cup squad, 14 net bowlers will be part of the Asia Cup preparatory camp. The idea is to ensure intensity and quality of net sessions is right up there and it doesn’t burn out the bowling resources,” a BCCI official stated.

A special emphasis will be on players making a return from injuries, particularly KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Their performance during the camp will be closely observed, as they aim to regain their form after a substantial period away from competitive cricket. Ajit Agarkar confirmed Iyer’s complete fitness, noting that he has already participated in three 50-over matches at the NCA.

The successful comebacks of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna have injected renewed confidence into the Indian team, especially ahead of significant white-ball tournaments like the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. The management’s primary focus now is to ensure the ongoing fitness and well-being of the core squad in the lead-up to these pivotal events.
