In anticipation of their opening match in the Asia Cup 2023 against arch-rivals Pakistan, the Indian cricket team players indulged in a lighthearted headshot session. India, led by Rohit Sharma, is set to commence their campaign on Saturday, September 2, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.

After a six-day skill enhancement camp in Alur, Karnataka, the Indian squad arrived in the island nation on Wednesday, August 30. In preparation for their inaugural fixture, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video on their social media platforms, showcasing the players participating in a playful headshots session. Among those featured in the video were Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Shubman Gill, among others.

The BCCI captioned the post with, “Lights. Camera. Action. Have a look at #TeamIndia’s fun-filled Headshots session ahead of #AsiaCup2023.”

In the video, Mohammed Siraj commented, “We have reached Sri Lanka, and we are very excited for the Asia Cup. We shot a few funny headshots.”

Pakistan commenced their Asia Cup campaign with a dominant 238-run victory against Nepal, fueled by Babar Azam’s magnificent 151 and an unbeaten 109 by Iftikhar Ahmed. Meanwhile, India is gearing up for their highly anticipated match against Pakistan, aiming to emerge victorious in Saturday’s high-stakes encounter.

Reflecting on their past encounters in the Continental Cup in 2022, India triumphed over Pakistan in the group stage, while Pakistan progressed to the final by winning the Super Four clash. Notably, key players like Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, and Shreyas Iyer have returned to the Indian lineup for the Asia Cup event after recovering from injuries.
