The India national cricket team arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday evening ahead of the highly anticipated final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 against New Zealand. The squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, appeared relaxed and upbeat as they exited the airport, boarded the team bus under tight security, and headed to their hotel.

Several key members of the squad, including Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh, were spotted making their way to the bus alongside the support staff, including batting coach Sitanshu Kotak.

Meanwhile, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah arrived with his family and left the airport in a separate vehicle along with all-rounder Axar Patel. Both players share a special connection with the state of Gujarat, making the final in Ahmedabad even more meaningful for them.

India are scheduled to hold a training session on Saturday at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium before addressing the media ahead of the title clash. The stadium, which can accommodate more than 130,000 spectators, is expected to witness a packed house for the grand finale on Sunday night.

This will be India’s fourth appearance in a T20 World Cup final, following campaigns in 2007, 2014 and 2024 — the most by any team in the tournament’s history. The Men in Blue lifted the trophy in the inaugural 2007 edition and again in 2024, while finishing runners-up in 2014.

Interestingly, no team has successfully defended the T20 World Cup title so far, and India now have the opportunity to achieve that historic milestone. On the other hand, New Zealand will be playing only their second final in the tournament, having previously finished runners-up in 2022.

India booked their place in the final after an impressive campaign, winning seven of their eight matches, including a thrilling seven-run semifinal victory over England national cricket team.
