Team India Reaches Numero Uno Position In All The Formats Of The Game

Team India has now become the no.1 ranked team across formats in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. They were already ranked No.1 in ODIs and T20Is but moved to the top of the rankings in Test cricket following a win by innings and 132 runs over Australia in Nagpur on February 11. India has been a dominant force in Test cricket over the last two years but had an ordinary time touring in 2022 when they lost a series in South Africa despite leading 1-0.

India also lost the rescheduled Test match against England in Birmingham. India moved to No.1 in ODIs after their clean sweep over New Zealand earlier in the year. India now has the chance to reach the final of the World Test Championship if they beat Australia 2-1 or better.

India replaced Australia at the top of the ICC rankings and currently has 115 rating points from 32 matches in the cycle. While Australia has slipped to No.2. England is third and New Zealand, the reigning World Test Championship winners, are 4th in the rankings.

Ahead of the Border Gavaskar trophy, India had stormed to No.1 in the ICC rankings for teams in ODIs. India, aided by a dream run from Shubman Gill, standing tall at the numero uno position in the rankings. India lost the semi-final of the T20 World Cup to England last year but they are No.1 in the ICC rankings for T20I teams too.

India had started Mission 111 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and finally achieved their dream owing to their consistent performances in bilateral series across formats. Several Indian players also dominate the ICC’s rankings across the three formats. Rishabh Pant (7th) and Rohit Sharma (8th) feature in the top-10 batters while R Ashwin (2nd) and Jasprit Bumrah (5th) are right up there among the world’s best bowlers in Test rankings.

Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin are also the top-two ranked all-rounders in the ICC Test rankings. In ODIs, Shubman Gill is ranked 6th, Virat Kohli 7th, and Rohit Sharma 9th in the ICC rankings for batters while Mohammed Siraj is the No.1 ODI bowler. Indian cricketers’ domination also extends to T20Is with Suryakumar Yadav on top in the rankings for batters and Hardik Pandya in second position for T20I all-rounders.
