On the eve of the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s, the Indian cricket team joined hands for a cause that hits close to home for many — the fight against cancer. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh hosted a star-studded charity gala in London on Tuesday to support his YouWeCan Foundation, and the entire Indian squad turned up in full strength to show their solidarity.

Yuvraj, a cancer survivor himself, founded YouWeCan to raise awareness about early detection and provide assistance to those battling the disease. Over the years, the foundation has funded treatments, awarded scholarships to young survivors, and driven grassroots awareness programmes. Tuesday’s event was another step in that journey — and it brought together not just India’s current crop but also legends of the game.

Among those in attendance were cricketing icons such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Brian Lara, Kevin Pietersen, and Darren Gough. India’s Test stars, including captain Shubman Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant, and head coach Gautam Gambhir, were seen interacting with the guests, participating in a photoshoot, and lending their voice to Yuvraj’s mission.

Yuvraj took a moment to acknowledge Gill’s phenomenal performance in the second Test at Edgbaston, where the skipper led from the front with scores of 269 and 161. His twin tons powered India to a commanding 336-run win, leveling the series 1-1 after the Headingley setback.

“I’m really proud of Shubman. His maturity, both as a batter and as a captain, has been fantastic. I’m sure his father must be beaming with pride too. I’ve seen his journey up close, and this is just the beginning,” Yuvraj Singh said.
India’s triumph at Edgbaston was also bolstered by Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep’s fiery spells, both claiming six-wicket hauls in Bumrah’s absence, proving India’s depth and resilience.
