The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a record-breaking cash reward of ₹131 crore for the India national cricket team following their historic triumph in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The announcement came after India’s emphatic victory over the New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

The ₹131 crore reward is the largest prize money ever announced in Indian cricket, surpassing the ₹125 crore bonus given to the squad led by Rohit Sharma after India’s previous T20 World Cup win in 2024. The BCCI has consistently rewarded major achievements in recent years.

India’s ICC Champions Trophy-winning team received ₹58 crore, while the victorious India women’s national cricket team earned ₹51 crore after lifting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. In an official statement, the BCCI confirmed the reward for the entire squad, coaching staff and support personnel following their remarkable campaign.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” the board said.

“India lifted the prestigious trophy after defeating New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, successfully defending the title and becoming the first team in the history of the tournament to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. With this victory, India also became the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times.”

India’s victory was not just about lifting another trophy. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the team scripted multiple records. By winning the tournament, Suryakumar joined an elite list of Indian captains that includes Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur — all leaders who have guided India to World Cup glory.

India dominated the tournament from start to finish. Their only defeat came at the hands of the South Africa national cricket team in the Super 8 stage. That setback, however, proved to be a turning point. The team responded with strong performances, defeating the West Indies national cricket team in a crucial encounter before edging past the England national cricket team in a tense semi-final.

The final, however, was a one-sided affair. Batting first, India posted a massive total of 255/5, leaving New Zealand with an almost impossible chase. The bowlers then completed the job, dismissing the Kiwis for 159 to seal a comprehensive 96-run victory.
