Following India’s thrilling T20 World Cup victory in June 2024, the celebrations haven’t stopped. Telangana, home state of star pacer Mohammed Siraj, showered him with appreciation for his contribution to the team’s success. On July 9th, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally met Siraj and presented him with a bouquet of flowers.
Mohammed Siraj, though not a regular in the playing XI throughout the tournament, played a crucial role in team morale and strategy. He expressed his gratitude on social media, thanking the CM for the honor and pledging to continue striving for national and state pride.

This wasn’t the only way Telangana celebrated Siraj’s achievement. The state government announced a special gift for the cricketer – a residential plot and a government job. Following a roadshow in his hometown after the team’s victory parade in Mumbai, the government announced these rewards, with the Chief Minister instructing officials to find a suitable plot and a government position for Siraj.

While Mohammed Siraj only featured in the first three games, managing just one wicket, his belief in the team and his teammates was unwavering. He publicly acknowledged Jasprit Bumrah’s impact, calling him a “game-changer.” Siraj also expressed his personal satisfaction, having lost the previous World Cup final. “Unbelievable feeling guys. I can’t explain,” he said. “Every professional cricketer wants to win the World Cup final. I’m grateful I’m here and thankful,” he added.
Siraj’s story highlights the spirit of the World Cup victory. It wasn’t just about individual performances, but about the collective effort and unwavering support that brought India the trophy after an 11-year wait.
