Speaking to India Today ahead of the IPL 2024, Jurel said that legendary MS Dhoni was his idol and he does not aim to become India’s next Dhoni as well.

“MS Dhoni has been my idol from the very start. I relate with him the most since I have been keeping from the start of my career. Everyone has been saying that I will become the next Dhoni, but it is very tough to become Dhoni,” Dhruv Jurel said. “Nobody can become MS Dhoni. I want to be Dhruv because I don’t think anyone can achieve what MS Dhoni has achieved in world cricket.”

However, he was asked about his favourite format of the game during the conclave. And, Jurel said that his priority was to play Test cricket for India as well. However, Jurel is expected to be one of the standout players for Rajasthan Royals, having made his debut for the franchise in the 2023 season of the IPL. He had played 13 matches for the team and managed 152 runs at a strike-rate of 172.73 as well.

“Test matches are always my first priority. I was asked this when I was a kid and I said at the time that I wanted to play 200 Test matches. I realised later that 200 Tests is a lot (laughs). I like to face fast bowlers. Pull shot is my favourite. In UP, Rinku Singh is my favourite teammate. At Rajasthan Royals it is Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag,” Dhruv Jurel concluded.
