The present days’ cricket demands a lot of energies and hard works on the field. So the fitness level demand has been developed too which we nowadays see as the Yo-Yo endurance fitness test. However, in a few times, we see some extraordinary talented cricketers who put some great quality performances on the field despite their fitness become the bar.
In past, we saw the Bermuda left-arm spinner Dwayne Leverock who featured in the 2007 ICC cricket World Cup in West Indies with the weight of 127 kg. During the group stage game against India in the 2007 ICC CWC, the heavy-weighted Leverock grabbed a marvellous catch at slip to dismiss the Indian opener Robin Uthappa at the very early stage.
Caribbean all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall is also another example, who is regularly playing the professional cricket despite being a heavy-weighted player. The off-spinner and right-handed batsman has also played for West Indies A side. Despite having a huge weight, Cornwall is a consistent performer both with the bat and ball.
Though the Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad is not that kind of heavy-weighted player, he is not a big fitness conscious and comparatively heavy-weighted than the other regular international and domestic professional cricketers in the present day.
However, here we are talking about Tharun Sudhir, who is actually not a professional cricketer. He is an Indian Kannada film actor, director and screenwriter who directed some famous box-office hit Kannada movies like Chowka (2017).
During the opening game of the second season of Kannada Chalanachitra Cup (KCC 2018), a T10 cricket league participated by Kannada superstars along with the international cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Tillakaratne Dilshan etc, the heavy-weighted Tharun Sudhir came to bowl for his team Kadamba Lions in the very crucial period of the game.
When the opponent team Wodeyar Chargers was playing on 92/4 in 8 overs, chasing down the 122 runs target, Sudhir came to bowl the ninth over of that innings and the opponent needed 30 runs to win in 12 balls. Though he got a wicket in the second ball of that over, he conceded 21 runs in that crucial over. In the final over of that game, Chargers successfully chased that target and won that game by five wickets.
