During the third Test of India’s tour of Australia in 1999/00 at Sydney, Glenn McGrath hit VVS Laxman on the head with a nasty bouncer. Laxman, who was unable to evade away from the delivery was left stranded on the field.
However, in what was one of the best ways to retaliate to the situation, he hit a cracking cover drive on the following delivery against McGrath to level the battle.
Opening the batting for India, Laxman went on to score his maiden Test hundred, 167 (198), with the help of 27 fours. However, he couldn’t avoid an Indian defeat as Australia won the match comprehensively by an innings and 41 runs.
