Former Team India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, calling them ‘Laurel and Hardy’, before the 2026 T20 World Cup. Calling both seamers world-class, Mhambrey believes they complement each other well.

Talking about the Bumrah-Arshdeep partnership in an interview with IANS, Paras Mhambrey said: “I feel they are the Laurel and Hardy combination right now. It’s just the fact that they are so famous. They are the combination in terms of complementing each other so well. One is a right-hander, and one is a left-armer. Both bowls are in different phases and are equally adapted to bowls in different phases.”
“You don’t have to bank on only looking at Bumrah to bowl in the powerplay, as you can then mix it up. The way Arshdeep goes, he is going to give you a couple of overs in the powerplay, if not more. So you can then play around with Bumrah’s overs in between,” Paras Mhambrey added.
Paras Mhambrey also believes Abhishek Sharma’s stunning performances for India are no surprise for those who have watched him from a young age as well.

“I just look back and think about Abhishek during the under-19 days. You always felt that he had time. He had time and he was still a young kid. I thought he was still the youngest of the lot. He was 17 or so, maybe. I am sure no one is surprised from the lot that has been with him, including Rahul (Dravid),” said Mhambrey on IANS.
“I am sure if you have a chat with Rahul, he would say the same thing – that we are not surprised that he is delivering at this stage. What stands out for me is just the free flow of his bat and just the timing bit. You knew that within a span of the next 3-4 years, obviously, he will develop as a player, physically as well, because you knew the technique was there,” Paras Mhambrey concluded.
