Virat Kohli has not been troubled by any specific bowler in the recent past. James Anderson was happened to be his nemesis after Team India’s England tour of 2014. But Kohli has shrugged all these talks after a record-breaking England visit of 2018, where he didn’t concede his wicket to Anderson even once. However, there is one bowler who has dismissed Kohli several times this year.

Adam Zampa

Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa seems to have Kohli’s number as he dismissed the Indian batting maestro three times on this tour so far. One of these dismissals came at a crucial juncture during the third One-Day International between two nations in Ranchi. Kohli was looking solid to take India home in Ranchi and was batting on 123 but Zampa held his nerve to undone the Indian skipper with a googly. Earlier, Australian leggie got battered of Kohli in first ODI after dismissing him in the first T20I of this tour.

Despite dismissing world’s number one batsman on numerous occasions, the 26-year-old spinner doesn’t think that he has made Kohli his bunny.

In the post-match presentation, Zampa reflected on Australia’s spirited performance while admitting how serious a player the Indian captain is. Kohli hit his second successive hundred of the series in Ranchi and also the seventh in his last 11 ODIs at home but an overall batting disappointment saw India falling short of the 300-plus target set by the Kangaroos.

“We bowled well collectively. The quicks upfront were amazing, Virat is a serious player, it was good to take his wicket when we did. I don’t think he’s my bunny, he’s one of the hardest players to bowl to. I was under a bit of pressure, if he had hit a couple of more boundaries, the momentum would have shifted towards them,” said Zampa.

The young spinner snared three important wickets in Ranchi but wasn’t considered as Man of the Match. Usman Khawaja’s match-winning century helped Australia beat India by 32 runs in Ranchi. The series is nicely poised at 2-1 with two matches are yet to be played.
