Mumbai Indians acquisitions, Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis, have forged a strong bond since the IPL 2022 mega auction. As Tilak Varma made his India debut against West Indies, Brevis extended a heartwarming wish to his friend. Subsequently, Varma was elated when Brevis earned his South Africa T20I cap against Australia.
Sharing similar ages, Tilak and Dewald quickly developed a deep friendship, and their camaraderie has remained unwavering. While Tilak Varma is currently part of India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2023, he arrived with his teammates in the Island nation on August 30, ahead of the opening clash against Pakistan on September 2.

Across the seas in Durban, the Proteas faced a challenging 111-run defeat against Australia, with Brevis contributing 5 runs in his inaugural international outing. Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten knock of 92 powered his team to a total of 226/6, the highest score in a T20I match on South African soil. In response, the hosts managed only 115 runs before being bowled out.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma enjoyed a memorable debut series against West Indies, emerging as India’s leading run-scorer. Despite his impressive and composed performances, the Hardik Pandya-led unit suffered a 3-2 series loss. Varma’s commendable display earned him a spot in India’s Asia Cup squad, although he is yet to make his ODI debut.
