Tilak Varma joins Rohit Sharma’s childhood friends in welcoming him

Team India received a grand welcome soon after arriving in the country with the T20 World Cup trophy. The team reached the Delhi airport early on July 4 and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence as well. Following that, the members of the wnning team jetted off to Mumbai and took part in a victory parade at the Marine Drive in the evening as well.

However, the BCCI also arranged a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium where a lot of crowd came to cheer for the T20 World Cup champions. Meanwhile, once everything was wrapped up, India captain Rohit Sharma returned home. Notably, another surprise was waiting for him there. Upon reaching the entrance of his residence, he saw some of his childhood friends, who were there to welcome the World Cup-winning captain. They all donned a customised t-shirt featuring Rohit’s picture with the T20 World Cup title as well.

Once the veteran Indian opener came out of his car, all of his friends saluted him and went on to imitate his trophy-lifting gesture as well. After that, they all came running towards Rohit and lifted him on their shoulders as well. They also felicitated him with a garland. Meanwhile, young Indian batter Tilak Varma was also seen there and enjoyed every bit of the celebration.

Highlighting Rohit Sharma’s reaction, a viewer noted, “He’s just too shy man. But Rohit, you’ve earned this! WC was your obsession and finally, the trophy reached you! You’re the freaking world champion and a world cup winning captain! You deserve the whole world.”

A fan opined on the bond between Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma and wrote, “Tilak bro is literally his family.”

However, Rohit Sharma wrapped up the victorious T290 World Cup campaign as the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament as well. After the final match in Barbados, he announced his retirement from T20Is as well alongside Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja as well.
