Star Indian cricketer Tilak Varma recently opened up about a serious health scare that nearly derailed his careerl. Speaking on Breakfast with Champions, Varma shared that the problem began after his first IPL stint, when he overtrained without allowing his body proper rest and recovery. “After my first IPL, I had some health problems. I was diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis, where muscle breakdown happens. I was pushing myself even on rest days because I wanted to be the fittest player and an exceptional fielder,” Varma revealed.

He explained how the constant strain on his body led to muscle and nerve issues. “I wasn’t giving my body time to recover. The muscle was overstrained and broke down. The nerves became quite hard,” the left-hander said.

The 21-year-old batter credited Mumbai Indians’ management and owner Akash Ambani for their swift and unwavering support during his recovery. “Mumbai Indians were there with me throughout. When Akash bhai got to know about the severity, he immediately called Jay Shah to ensure I got the best medical help,” he shared.
