RCB had posted a modest 163/7, and Delhi’s top order almost made a mess of what looked like a routine chase. But Rahul, alongside the composed Tristan Stubbs (38*), stitched a vital 111-run stand for the fourth wicket to steady the innings and take Delhi over the line at 169/4.

Rahul’s knock was a masterclass in pacing an innings on a tricky Chinnaswamy surface. Initially cautious, he accelerated with finesse.
