Team India witnessed a forgettable batting collapse in the Pink-ball Test match in Adelaide but the Australian skipper, Tim Paine has warned his team against taking the very “talented Test match side” lightly. The hosts bundled out the visitors for a meager score of 36, their lowest ever Test total to date before losing by 8 wickets in just two-and-a-half days of the series opener.

However, Australia will make sure that India doesn’t forget the loss ahead of the marquee Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). But Paine doesn’t want his team to think in that fashion about a “proud cricket country India”.

Elaborating the same ahead of the Melbourne Test, Paine said, “We can’t pay any attention to mental scars, whatever that people are talking about. We know India is a proud cricket country. They are an extremely talented Test match side with lots of dangerous players.”

He further added, “The moment we take our foot off the pedal and think we are going all right, we saw in England in that fifth Test, that we can come unstuck pretty quickly. So, a huge focus of ours since that fifth Test in the Ashes has been winning after winning and our attitude towards the next game.”

India has made as many as four changes for the Boxing Day Test as Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant made a comeback as replacement for Virat Kohli and Wriddhiman Saha, respectively in the playing XI. Apart from that, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj will be making their debuts to replace Prithvi Shaw and injured, Mohammed Shami. Paine is aware of the threat these “dangerous” players possess for his team.

Tim Paine also talked about the drawbacks of the bio-secure bubble, saying that the team not winning can find it more difficult. The Tasmania batsman predicted that India would implode if they are put in a similar position as in Adelaide.
