Tamil Nadu’s exciting young fast bowler Deepesh Devendran announced his arrival in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) in spectacular fashion, impressing with both pace and control during his debut for the Siechem Madurai Panthers on Wednesday. The 19-year-old speedster returned impressive figures of 1/25 from his four-over spell, but it was his express pace that stole the show.

Deepesh consistently troubled the batters by crossing the 140 kmph mark and even registered a blistering delivery of 146 kmph, underlining why he is regarded as one of India’s brightest fast-bowling prospects.

His standout moment came when he dismissed Jafar Jamal with a fiery 143 kmph delivery that skidded through the batter’s defence before crashing into the middle stump. The wicket showcased both his raw pace and ability to generate awkward bounce, leaving fans and experts excited about his future.

The youngster has already built an impressive reputation in age-group cricket. Earlier this year, Deepesh played a crucial role in India’s triumphant ICC Under-19 World Cup campaign, claiming six wickets in five matches, including two wickets in the final against England.

His rise began during the Under-19 Asia Cup, where he finished as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in five matches. He carried that form into India’s Under-19 tour of Australia, picking up 10 wickets, including a memorable five-wicket haul in the first Youth Test in Brisbane.
