Tom Moody, the former Australian cricketer and seasoned coach, has voiced serious concerns about the Gujarat Titans’ bowling unit losing steam at a crucial phase in IPL 2025. As the league stage edges towards the business end, Moody noted that the franchise has struggled to build consistent bowling partnerships—an area that could cost them dearly during the playoffs.

The cracks in GT’s bowling were starkly visible during their 83-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. While Prasidh Krishna was the lone bright spot with figures of 2/22 from four overs, the rest of the attack leaked runs at an alarming rate, all registering economy rates in double digits.
“It’s a worry when multiple bowlers go off form at the same time, especially this late in the tournament,” Tom Moody said during a chat with ESPNcricinfo. “Heading into the playoffs, your bowling unit must exude confidence. You want bowlers to look forward, not over their shoulders.”

Moody acknowledged that R Sai Kishore has shown consistency but lamented that his contributions haven’t translated into team success due to a lack of support from the rest of the bowling group.
“It’s not just about individual performance. It’s about building bowling partnerships—something GT haven’t done well lately.” Offering a tactical suggestion, Tom Moody floated the idea of opening the bowling with Sai Kishore to disrupt the opposition’s rhythm early. “Doing something different, like starting with a left-arm spinner, could give them that element of unpredictability they desperately need.”

However, he cautioned against knee-jerk reactions. “It’s not the time to panic. Players must stay in the present, not dwell on past failures or fear future ones. Reinforcing a positive environment is crucial—especially with so many tired bodies and mentally fatigued players at this stage.”

Moody emphasised the importance of quiet reflection and targeted improvement. “Addressing flaws doesn’t always need a dressing-room declaration. Sometimes, one-on-one conversations can go a long way in restoring confidence without denting morale.”
In short, as Gujarat Titans approach the final stretch, Moody believes their success hinges not just on tactical tweaks but on restoring belief, staying composed, and quietly fixing the gaps that threaten to derail their title aspirations.
