Former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) coach Tom Moody has said that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) dearly missed KL Rahul in their Eliminator clash loss against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday in Chennai. LSG made it to the Playoffs for the second consecutive season but once again suffered a loss in the Eliminator stage. MI had posted 182 in their 20 overs after batting first.

The LSG chase got off to the worst possible start as they lost Prerak Mankad and Kyle Mayers early. While Marcus Stoinis was able to steady the innings for a bit, Krunal Pandya’s wicket started a big batting collapse with Akash Madhwal bowling a spell of 5/5 in 3.3 overs as the Lucknow side was bundled out for 101 as MI went through to the Qualifier 2.

LSG has been missing the services of KL Rahul since 1st May as he suffered an injury during the match against RCB as it ruled him out of the tournament and Moody feels that he was a big miss for them in the Eliminator.

Speaking to Cricinfo, as per the quotes in Sportskeeda, Tom Moody said, “I think KL Rahul was a massive miss for LSG. This is the second time they have reached the playoffs, so that in itself is a great achievement for a new team. I think even though at the point that KL Rahul injured himself, you can just about guarantee that he would have scored three if not more half-centuries in the rest of the games and that was missing.”

Moody said that Rahul in the LSG batting lineup would have given them a completely different look and the stability he provides was missing and so was the amount of runs he can score.

Elaborating the same, Tom Moody said, “KL Rahul in that batting lineup is a different story, it is a completely different look. I felt that he was a big loss, just around the stability that he provides as a top-order player. Yes, there are times that he is criticized for not striking at the rate that we all feel that he should, but there are other times that he does. It’s the volume of runs that was missing.”
