Taking to Twitter, Moody shared his admiration for Jaiswal and his belief in the young cricketer’s ability to make a lasting impact in Test cricket. His tweet read, “If the story of Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t been compelling enough, his test journey has launched. There’s no doubt he’ll leave a significant footprint in this format.”

In the first Test of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, West Indies, led by Kraigg Brathwaite, made a decent start after winning the toss. However, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took two quick wickets, removing Brathwaite (20) and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (12). Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja also made breakthroughs, dismissing Raymon Reifer and Jermaine Blackwood, respectively.

As the game progressed, Ashwin continued to shine, adding three more wickets to his tally, securing his 33rd five-wicket haul in Tests with figures of 5/60. Jadeja (3/26) and Mohammed Siraj (1/23) also made valuable contributions, helping restrict the West Indies to a below-par score of 150 in their first innings. Apart from Alick Athanaze’s 47, none of the West Indies batters provided strong resistance.
