There cannot be a worse moment for a bowler in cricket than to be reported for an illegal bowling action. Not that bowlers throw the ball intentionally, it is just that even a minor bed of the arm can cause issue regarding the same. The modern-day bio-mechanics work with so much precision and accuracy that even the slightest of an error gets detected.

Finger-spinners are the ones who generally face the ax as far as bowling with an illegal action in concerned. Legends of the game like Muttiah Muralitharan and Harbhajan Singh have also been reported during their careers, but they came back strongly with a re-modeled bowling action. However, it is not everyone’s cup of tea to make a come back in a way they made during their respective careers.

If detected at a young age, bowlers tend to lose a lot of confidence. Imagine that you have been doing a certain task right from your childhood and suddenly you are suspended or banned from doing the same. For some bowlers, even a re-modeled action doesn’t work. Not that they are not allowed to bowl with a new action but their wicket-taking ability is, at times, affected.
