On Wednesday evening, the cricketing fraternity left shell-shocked, as the person who has often received praises such as ‘superman’, ‘maverick’, ‘Mr 360’ throughout his career, AB de Villiers announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. In his retirement speech, he said that took the decision as he is feeling tired, but considering some of his recent performances don’t give a testimony that he is tired.

1. Chasing down a huge total

Early in his career, Ab de Villiers made an impact by helping the Proteas to chase down the humongous target of 414 in a Test against Australia in Perth in 2008. He remained unbeaten on 106 (nine fours) off 186 balls. Graeme Smith, the then Proteas skipper, had scored 108 to set the stage.
