Former English skipper Alastair Cook left most of the cricket fans and pundits in shock when he announced his decision to hang his boots from international cricket as his cricketing career will come to an end of his 161st Test. In the 12 years since he made his debut against India in Nagpur. He has played more Tests than any of his countrymen, he captained the side more frequently than anyone else, as he has amassed as many as 12,254 runs and made 32 centuries and 56 half centuries in his illustrious career.
In order to segregate one of his best knocks in Test cricket, we have attempted to relive five of them. Let’s have a look:
5. 104* v India, Nagpur, 2006
Cook is one of the few English batsmen (19 to be exact), who have scored a century on their Test debut. He flew from Antigua to Nagpur in order to make his Test debut after Marcus Trescothick pulled out of the tour with a stress-related illness. Made a composed and mature 60 in the first innings, but in the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 104 in the second in which he put on a 125-run stand with Kevin Pietersen.
