After the cancellation of the KKR vs RCB match due to a couple of Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) players tested positive for COVID-19, concern over other matches have been increasing too. However, KKR’s official Twitter handle has revealed on Monday that Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier has been tested positive for the deadly virus which left many people thinking about the cancellation of the tournament.
Notably, India have been going through a tough phase currently due to the second wave of the COVID-19 and more than 300000 people are emerging positive every day for the last few days as well. Moreover, India have also faced shortages of oxygen, medicines, beds in hospitals which are needed for the recovery of critical patients. Thus, there have been several calls to cancel the tournament amid these critical times and invest everything to saving lives as well.

“There is no going back now with half of the tournament done. The news makes the BCCI’s job more challenging. We have been hearing that a player got infected because he was taken outside the bubble for scans. So, it could have happened outside the bubble. As far as I know, everyone is following the protocols laid out by the BCCI and there was no breach there,” the official said as quoted by Times of India.
The official further claimed that how long the tournament would be postponed if paused now and better if it should continue and positive cases should be put in isolation as well. He also shared that players are feeling anxious now, as they have no clue how to reach home as well.

“Even if you have to pause the tournament, how long can you hold back? The only way is to keep isolating the positive cases and continue playing. The players are naturally more anxious now but it is mainly because they are not sure how they would get back home,” he added.
