Australian cricketer Travis Head feels that the Australian pacers will put the Indian skipper Virat Kohli into the tough Test as they can put him under enough pressure during the Test series.

The four-match Test series between the hosts Australia and the visitors India is going to begin on December 6. While the no.1 ranked Test and ODI batsman Virat Kohli is in the top form with the bat, Australia has their three top-quality pacers – Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins – to stop him.

Before the Test series, Travis Head admitted that Kohli is a good batsman but he also added that they have one of the best bowling units.

Head said according to icc-cricket.com, “I don’t think I have to bowl to him (Virat), which is good. Hopefully the boys get it under control. I think facing the three big quicks … I know how hard a work it is. If they can put him under enough pressure, everybody in the world is a person, a human.

“So we know he is a good player but I think we have got good bowlers to do this job. We are one of the best bowling units in the world, so it is going to be an exciting battle and hopefully we’ll come out on top.”

As the 24-year-old Travis Head plays for South Australia, whose home ground is Adelaide Oval, he spoke out about the expecting wickets for the opening Test of the series.

While the Test series is going to begin from Adelaide, Head said, “I think it has been a new-ball wicket. Batters have got in once the ball has got little bit older. Guys have scored runs and it has spun, so wicket’s done everything really well.”

Last time, when Australia met India at Adelaide Test in 2014/15 summer, Australia won by 48 runs while the off-spinner Nathan Lyon picked up 12 wickets (5/134 & 7/152).

Mentioning that, Head continued, “The last time we were here, Lyon took a lot of wickets on day five. So it has spun quite a bit. I think it will be a good wicket all around. Hopefully it’s got a lot of pace in it. As the Shield season has gone on here, wickets have become quicker. So it will be a really good wicket for bat and ball and it will be a really good contest.”

Head is confident that they will handle well the experienced Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. While he has faced Ashwin few times in IPL, Head will soon add his domestic teammate Harry Nielsen’s experience to face him in the recent warm-up game at Sydney.

Head added, “I have played a little bit [against Ashwin]. I have played a couple of times in the IPL. I think we have got batters to play [him] well.

“Harry played well against him yesterday, so we he gets home from the plane I will have a word with him. But I think it’s the case with anything … if we had six right-handers and (Ravindra) Jadeja played? So [he’s] a world-class bowler but I think we have got some world-class batters as well. It will be a good contest.”
