Mumbai Indians’ (MI) speedster Trent Boult has said that the team’s middle-order woes need to be solved soon as they are failing miserably. The left-arm pace bowler has also added that they will ‘obviously’ like to have a few more runs on the board.

It is also noteworthy that, they have failed to put up a total of more than 160 runs in their first 4 matches so far. The middle-order consist of Ishan Kihsna, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard who are still waiting to score big as well.

“I am sure the middle-order is probably not too pleased with how things are going so far but I know the guys are hungry and desperate to put in the performance in our last game here in Chennai tomorrow,” Trent Boult said prior to the team’s game against Punjab Kings.

“We have not had an ideal start, obviously like to have a few more runs on the board. But one of the strengths of this side is fighting till the end and the bowlers have managed to do that. Hopefully, we put runs on the board,” further added the New Zealand pace ace.

He again shared that the Mumbai Indians team will look to give the middle-order more time in the middle before they take a call on the probable changes.

“I think it is very hard for me to talk from a batting point of view. They (Hardik and Pollard) are key ingredients to our team, things have not gone to plan as yet. Wickets are hard here. They must be thinking about giving themselves some extra balls. Yeah, hopefully, we can take advantage of the good starts we are getting in the power play,” Trent Boult said.

On the other hand, dew has played its part in most of the games where bowlers have struggled a lot with the wet ball. While talking about the conditions, the New Zealand pacer said that dealing with it and finding a solution is the only option.

“I think it definitely gets tricky when the ball gets wet. We have the experience of playing in Chennai and the other night (against Delhi Capitals) was probably the worse it has been. For a foreign player coming to this country, it is something definitely different to what we used to (have) back in New Zealand and it (dew) is part and parcel of the game here and as a bowler, you simply have to find a way to able to execute some sort of deliveries. But ideally you want to see an even contest between bat and ball,” Trent Boult concluded.
