SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) succumbed to their third consecutive loss in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as they failed to return the bowling efforts and failed to chase down a modest target for the second time in a row. SRH’s meltdown against the Mumbai Indians (MI) was quite similar to the one they suffered against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai, and a lot of credit for that goes to Rahul Chahar and Trent Boult.
SRH completely made a meal of a chase that started so impressively. On the other hand, MI recorded their second consecutive win in Chennai. Earlier in the game, MI skipper, Rohit Sharma decided to bat first and the SRh bowler kept going for runs in the initial overs as Mumbai openers, Rohit Sharma, and Quinton De Kock built a 55-run stand in less than seven overs.

However, the SunRisers’ renowned bowling attack pulled things back in the middle overs by picking wickets on a regular basis. Vijay Shankar removed Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman got the wickets of De Kock and Ishan Kishan. Kieron Pollard finished with a fiery knock of unbeaten 35 and provided the final flourish by striking two sixes, setting the SunRisers a competitive 151 to win.
During the chase, SRH started on a high as they made a change in their opening pair, getting Jonny Bairstow at the top with David Warner. The destructive duo managed to score as many as 67 runs in less than eight overs as they smashed Trent Boult and Adam Milne in the powerplay overs. Krunal Pandya began unlocking the game as Jonny Bairstow struck the stumps with his back leg.
Rahul Chahar bought MI back in the game by scalping a couple of wickets, while Hardik Pandya affected the run-out of David Warner. By the end of the 15th over, the Orange Army were five down and the equation came down to SRH needing 47 off 30 deliveries. Vijay Shankar delivered some lusty blows to bring it down to a highly achievable task.

Hardik pegged them back once again by churn another brilliant run-out of Abdul Samad in Trent Boult’s over, followed by Japsrit Bumrah putting the final nail in the coffin by dismissing Shankar in the second last over. With 17 runs required off the final over, the Orange Army got bowled out for 137 with Trent Boult scalping as many as three wickets.
Brief Scores:
Mumbai Indians – 150/5 in 20 overs (K Pollard: 35*, QDK: 40; M Rahman: 2/29) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad – 137 all-out (J Bairstow: 43; R Chahar: 3/19, T Boult: 3/28) by 13 runs

Best batsmen upfront and going hard like Bairstow can. That is the best chance for @sunrisers.

Sorry to say, but anyone that picks Abhishek Sharma, Virat Singh and Abdul Samad all together in one playing XI does not deserve to win.

How long you can keep @mipaltan away from being the table-toppers? So many match winners for those hopeless situations.
