The young Indian cricketer, Shubman Gill made his international debut at the age of 19 and he gave enough signs to prove that he can be a future superstar. He only managed to score 9 runs in his debut innings in international cricket but the way he got behind the line to the likes of Trent Boult and Matt Henry bore testimony to his talent.
Gill was drafted into the playing XI for the fourth ODI against New Zealand in Hamilton in place of regular skipper Virat Kohli, who had been rested for the last two ODIs and the three-match T20I series.

There was one moment in the match apart from the delivery he got out to, where Gill did not look comfortable. It was a bouncer from the fiery Kiwi pacer Trent Boult that hit Gill straight on the helmet in the 10th over of the Indian innings.

The extra and pace bounce from Boult surprised Gill, as he was clearly late on the pull shot. The balls rattled the youngster and had to be assisted by Indian physiotherapist Patrik Farhart before he resumed batting once again. Boult was quick enough to check on the young man after deadly bouncer.
In his next over, Boult again got the better of Gill with an overpitched delivery. The Punjab right-hander played it on the up and ended up scooping it straight back to the Boult, who accepted the return catch with grace.

Boult ran through the Indian side with figures of 5 for 21 to bowl them out for their seventh lowest total in ODIs on 92. In reply, New Zealand made light work of the target reaching home in just 14.4 overs with 8 wickets in hand to make it 3-1.
