When it comes to setting the tone with the new ball, there are few better than Trent Boult. The Kiwi left-arm pacer has long been known for his ability to strike early in the innings, and once again, in the high-stakes IPL 2025 Eliminator against Gujarat Titans, he delivered a trademark blow. Boult, representing Mumbai Indians, removed GT skipper Shubman Gill in the very first over of the match with a beautiful inswinger that dismantled the stumps — a dream start for MI in a crunch game.

With that wicket, Boult reinforced his status as the ultimate Powerplay predator. It marked his 32nd first-over wicket in IPL history, further extending his lead over veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who sits second on the list with 27 wickets in the first over across 135 innings. Boult achieved his tally in just 102 innings, underlining his efficiency and impact with the new ball.
