Delhi Capitals’ all-rounder Vipraj Nigam endured a forgettable moment in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. In a match where nothing seemed to go right for DC, Nigam’s unfortunate run-out only deepened their misery.

Batting first after losing the toss, Delhi were rocked early by a fiery spell from the SRH pacers, slumping to a dismal 29/5 inside the powerplay. Amid the wreckage, Nigam and Tristan Stubbs tried to steady the innings, showing composure and grit to stitch together a brief stand and halt the collapse.

However, just as the duo began to look settled, disaster struck in the 13th over. Zeeshan Ansari delivered the first ball of the over, and Stubbs gently worked it off his pads. Confident of completing two runs, Stubbs took off immediately. At the other end, Nigam was slow to respond, clearly unsure of the second run. What followed was a complete communication breakdown.

Both batters ended up at the same end, and in the confusion, Stubbs crossed Nigam at the striker’s end while the throw came in swiftly to the bowler’s end. The third umpire reviewed the footage to determine which batter was out, and it was Nigam who had to make the long walk back. He hadn’t even made it into the frame when the bails were removed.

The run-out was not only a major setback for Delhi Capitals but also a moment that went viral, especially due to SRH owner Kavya Maran’s hilarious reaction in the stands. Her stunned expression quickly made the rounds on social media, summing up the bizarre nature of the dismissal.
For Delhi, this mishap added to a growing list of batting woes in a night to forget.
