Days after Jasprit Bumrah dismissed false injury rumours, Mumbai pacer Tushar Deshpande has addressed similar misleading reports about his fitness. The 29-year-old, who underwent ankle surgery in September last year, denied claims suggesting a recurrence of his ankle injury would sideline him for months. Deshpande criticized the lack of accountability in sports journalism, urging for more responsible reporting.

Recent media reports alleged that Deshpande’s injury could keep him out of action for an extended period, including the Ranji Trophy and IPL 2025. Some even quoted a doctor suggesting delays in his recovery. Taking to social media, the pacer expressed frustration, branding the reports baseless.

Deshpande, who hails from Kalyan, rose to prominence during the 2023 IPL season, playing a vital role in the Chennai Super Kings’ successful campaign with 21 wickets in 16 matches. His impressive performances earned him a maiden India cap during the T20I series against Zimbabwe in 2024. At the IPL 2025 auction, Rajasthan Royals secured his services for INR 6.5 crore, beating competition from CSK.
