After impressing as a captain in the 2008 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup that won by Australia, Kohli has raised his cricket standard gradually in the international cricket. Now, he is not only one of the best cricketers in this generation, but also he is one of the best cricketers in the international cricket history.

Making his international cricket debut in August 2008, Kohli has played 73 Tests, 216 ODIs and 62 T20Is where he has scored 6,331 runs (average 54.57), 10,232 runs (average 59.83) and 2,102 runs (average 48.88) respectively. Also, he has picked up a total of eight international wickets (4 in ODIs and 4 in T20Is) as a right-arm medium bowler. He played an important role when India won the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Kohli is leading the Test side since 2014 and the limited-overs sides since 2017. He has led the Indian side in 116 international matches (42 Tests, 57 ODIs and 17 T20Is) and he is making some good records as a captain too.

Under his captaincy, India just missed winning the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy in England as they finished as a runner-up in that tournament after Pakistan beat them in the final by 180 runs.

Due to his extraordinary performances in cricket, Kohli has won some respectable awards. Kohli won Arjuna Award in 2013 and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in this year. Apart from winning the ICC Cricketer of the Year trophy (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy) in 2017, he also won the ICC ODI Player of the Year trophy in 2012 and 2017.
