The 29th road safety week has started on this Monday and will run till April 29. On this occasion, Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli speaks on drink and drive issue in India. India has a big problem on this.

Kohli posted a video on his official Twitter account and wrote “#RoadSafetyWeek, join me in taking a pledge to not be a danger on the road. @nitin_gadkari @MORTHIndia @Uber_India”

He said on that video, “In India, 19 people die everyday because of driving under the influence of alcohol. That is almost 6,700 plus people every year. Today I take a pledge to never drink and drive. I want everyone to join hands with me in taking the pledge.”

Also, Indian Premier League Chairman Rajeev Shukla has tweeted an important message on road safety as he wrote, “On #RoadSafetyWeek I appeal all to follow traffic rules and drive safely. Always remember, safety should be the first priority while on road.”

However, it was not the first time when Kohli raised his voice on drink & drive and road safety. In November 2015, Kohli had said in a campaign, “It’s irresponsible to put someone’s life in danger when you drink and drive.”

In the last year, Kohli said on road safety, “Please be safe on roads, follow all the rules. Take care of your safety and the safety of people around you. A lot of lives are at stake when you drive so please be responsible and never drink and drive.”

While Kohli came with a responsible tweet in this year too, some twitteries tried to troll him for his poor captaincy in the ongoing IPL. His IPL team RCB is currently struggling in the ongoing season as they are presently at sixth position in the points table with just 4 points after the first six games.
