ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 has come to its final stage where India and Australia faced each other in the first semi-final on February 23. And, Australia registered a thrilling win by 5 runs and sealed their berth in the final as well where they will play the winner of the second semi-final.
Australia captain Meg Lanning won the toss at Newlands, Cape Town and decided to bat first where Australian openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney got off to a good start. The Indian team were not at their best form on the field as there were several misfields and some catches dropped that helped Australia to post a decent total of 172/4 in 20 overs.

In reply, India got off to the worst possible start, losing both their openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana within the powerplay. However, in-form batter Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur steadied the ship and added 69 runs off 41 balls. While Rodrigues scored 43 off 24 balls, Kaur smashed 52 off 34 balls. She got out when they needed 40 off 32 balls to win but they fell short by five runs eventually.
