After waiting for quite some time, Suryakumar Yadav finally got the chance to make his international debut. He had received his maiden India call-up after witnessing three very successful outings in the latest editions of the IPL where he scored in excess of 400 runs each time. Along with him though his Mumbai Indians teammate, Ishan Kishan too got an opportunity to make his debut. The youngster had ended the IPL 2021 as the leading run-getter for MI and the fifth-highest overall.
Ishan was given the opportunity to open the batting alongside KL Rahul as Rohit Sharma is still resting while Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the second T20I. Though both the players have waited for a long time to get an opportunity, the debate as to whether they fit in the scheme of things for the T20 World Cup later this year still remains.

While fans are extremely happy with the inclusion of both the players it remains to be seen if they can perform at the highest level. If they are able to replicate their IPL form the team management will definitely be spoilt for choices. While Yadav is playing in the middle order, Kishan is going to be opening the batting. The Indian middle-order did have one spot of concern but Shreyas Iyer’s inning in the first T20I puts him a touch ahead of the rest.

Experts, as well as fans, are super excited to see the duo get going. They have huge expectations on their shoulders and it would be interesting to see if they can live up to the hype. While the T20 World Cup is still far away their main aim would be to help India win the second T20I.
