After the interrogation of the Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan by the Anti Extortion Cell of the Thane police in the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting scandal more names have surfaced. As the investigation is progressing each passing day, numerous involvements from Bollywood are coming to the fore. As per media reports, today the ACE charged two film producer Parag Sanghvi and Murad Khaitan, they have been asked to be present on Tuesday.
The ACE has registered a separate case of corruption against Sonu Jalan and Ravi Pujari. It was also reported that Sanghvi was Jalan’s partner in the entire episode along with them a Mumbai-based builder’s son has also been named as a top bookie and the cops are working out the details and will again ask Arbaaz to make himself available for questioning if the need be.
Pradeep Sharma, senior inspector, Thane AEC was quoted on Firstpost as saying, “Two Bollywood producers, Parag Sanghvi and Murad Khaitan’s names have cropped up. We will call them for questioning. Sanghvi was Jalan’s [Sonu Jalan] partner. A top bookie who is a Mumbai-based builder’s son, Dilip Ludhani, has also been named. We are probing further. We will call Khan again if needed.”

Arbaaz’s name surfaced when the police arrested Jalan on May 15. He is the kingpin in the case and is accused to have links with the underworld and D-company. The cops at the Dombivili police station have booked Jalan under section – 420, 465, 468, 471rw and 34 of the IPC, section 4(A), 5 of the Gambling Act and also IT Act 66A.
When Arbaaz was interrogated, he confessed that he has known Jalan for more than six years and had placed bets on IPL matches and in fact lost around INR 2.8 crores during IPL 2017. He said it was out of necessity as he was caught up in betting. However, Khan also claimed that he had not placed any bets in the 11th edition of the tournament that was played in April and May 2018.
