England fast bowler Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE after suffering a strain in his right thigh. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the news on Wednesday and named Reece Topley as his replacement for the tournament.
Mills suffered the injury while playing against Sri Lanka on Monday. He left the field after bowling 1.3 overs. He underwent scans, which confirmed an injury.

“Mills sustained the injury bowling in the T20 World Cup Super 12s match against Sri Lanka on Monday in Sharjah. Results of the scan on Tuesday night revealed the extent of the injury,” ECB said in a release.
Mills played in all four matches for England in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 and picked four wickets at an average of 15.42. He made his international comeback during the tournament. He was out of action for the national side since 2018 as back-to-back injuries prevented his return to the side.
Interestingly, Mills hasn’t played in any other format other than T20Is.

Topley last played a T20I against South Africa in 2016 and has had his fair share of injury concerns as well. He has played six T20Is and has five wickets with an economy of 10.07.
England are in red-hot form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. They have won all four games so far and already have one foot in the semi-final. They last played against Sri Lanka, where Jos Buttler smashed a well-paced century to help England post a decent total. The bowlers were excellent in the second innings as they won the game comfortably after a few hiccups caused by Tymal Mills’ injury.
They will play South Africa in their last league match on November 6 in Sharjah.
