U-16 Harris Shield Match End in a Single-digit Score?

Recently a bizarre incident took place in the U-16 Harris Shield match where a team were bowled out for a single-digit total while chasing a whopping 761/4 in 45 overs. The match was between Swami Vivekananda International School and Children’s Welfare Centre School and the scorecard showed the horrible result in cricket’s history.

Children’s Welfare Centre School had to do a herculean task. In reply to the mountain of runs, they were bowled out for 7 which came through extras where none of their batsmen scored a single run. Swami Vivekananda International School from Borivali scored 761/4 on the back of a triple century from Meet Mayekar who blasted an unbeaten 338 off 134 deliveries, including seven sixes and 56 fours.

Alok Pal picked up a hat-trick (6/3) and Varad Vaza (2/3) joined hands to send back their opponents in six overs that included two run-outs also. As per the report in the Mumbai Mirror, following their embarrassing collapse, the Children’s Welfare Centre School participants left the ground within no time. Three bowlers of Centre School leaked over 100 runs – Usman Bhoga gave away 116 runs in eight overs, Abhishek Nath, 140 runs in nine overs, whereas captain Harsh Mishra conceded 139 runs in eight overs.

Along with the insulting incident, they failed to bowl their quota of 45 overs within the stipulated time and Centre School were handed a penalty of 156 runs as well in the Harris Shield Match.
