Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Umar Akmal decided not to contest charges of corruption leveled against him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which means his case will directly go to a judge to impose sanctions against him. Meanwhile, PCB says it has referred the Akmal case to the chairman of its disciplinary panel, Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, who is a retired Lahore High Court judge.

Describing the same, a sources near to Umar Akmal revealed that the stumper feels he has been framed. He said, “Umar has told his family members and even the PCB security officials when they interviewed him that he meets lots of people for business and social purposes and he can’t be aware if someone has a shady background.”

He further added, “When he was questioned about meeting a particular person before the PSL and whether an offer was made to spot fix matches in the PSL, Umar denied his involvement in spot-fixing in any matches. Umar believes that someone has tried to set him up and disgrace him. He believes someone didn’t want him to play in the PSL.”
