Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq shared his thoughts and views on fellow countrymen and Pakistani batsman Umar Akmal. On Tuesday, the Pakistan team head coach has urged Umar Akmal to discipline himself and focus more on his personal batting skills if the player wants to revive his career and play for the national team once again.
Once regarded as the most talented batsman in the country, Umar Akmal could now look up to a lifetime ban after he was charged for not reporting match-fixing offers by the PCB. Earlier on the Pakistani Cricket Board had suspended the player because of the same reason in February. PCB charged the player him under their anti-corruption code. Akmal’s 14-day deadline to reply to the anti-corruption will end on Tuesday.

Head coach Misbah spoke to media on Akmal and said, “You and I can’t do anything. Umar has to decide himself, show discipline and focus on his cricket. He has to make a decision whether he wants to remain like this… He has shown good performances but needs to improve his fitness, discipline, and commitment.”
The 29-year-old had a promising start to his career as he scored a century on debut against NZ way back in 2009. However, the play has been in and out of the Pakistan national team due to frequent disciplinary problems. The player was also arrested after he had an issue with the police back in 2014.
