2. Windies vs Sri Lanka at Bridgetown (23-26 June; D/N Test) – Sri Lanka won by 4 wickets
It was the third and final Test of the series that was played at Kensington Oval (Bridgetown, Barbados) where Sri Lanka had to win to draw that series. It was the first ever day-night Test in the West Indies which was a thrilling low-scoring encounter.
After winning the toss, Windies only managed to score 204 runs, thanks to the two impressive middle-order knocks of 71 and 74 runs by the wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich and the skipper Jason Holder respectively. Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara (4/58) picked up four wickets in that innings.
In reply, the visiting side Sri Lanka only managed to score 154 runs. The wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella (42 runs) was the only man to reach the 30-run mark in that innings while the Windies skipper Holder (4/19) picked up four wickets.
Starting their second innings with the 50 runs lead, Windies were bundled out for just 93 runs. Kemar Roach (23*) was the only Windies batsman to reach the 20-run mark in that innings.
Chasing down the 144 runs target, Sri Lanka was once struggling on 81/6 but Dilruwan Perera (23*) and Kusal Perera (28*) safely guided the visitors to the series-saving victory. Though the Windies skipper fought very hard again with the ball in hand by picking up five wickets (5/41), the hosts lost the game by four wickets. However, Holder won the Player of the Match award for his impressive all-round performances.
