Indian opener KL Rahul has been doing a wonderful job for team India in recent times as he achieves another brilliant feat in Test cricket.

After coming back from a shoulder injury Rahul has once again smashed a century in the second Test against Sri Lanka today. It was his 6 consecutive 50+ score in successive innings and he is only the third Indian batsman to do so.  However, his innings will be overshadowed for the manner in which it ended following a horrible mix up with Cheteshwar Pujara and the wicket also allowed Lanka back into the game.

However, Rahul’s knock came to an end in an unexpected manner when he engaged in a horrible mix up with Cheteshwar Pujara.

Team India was cruising smoothly at 109 for one with Rahul and Pujara on 57 and 17 respectively. However, things took a drastic turn in the 31st over of the innings with Rahul facing Herath.

Herath bowled a full ball at off stump and Rahul pushed to the left of extra cover and attempted a single. But Pujara wasn’t ready to take a single as he took a few strides forward, but then decided to go back to the crease. Meanwhile, Rahul was standing at the half-pitch mark and there was no way he could make it back to his crease, the incident resulted in a crucial wicket of the Indian opener.

Rahul’s wicket turned the game in Sri Lanka’s favor up to an extent but then Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane built a strong partnership of 261* runs and the Day 1 ended on a happy note for India. Team India is in a comfortable position of 344/3 at stumps on Day 1.
